    Children of an element with a border-radius will always bleed out of their parent.

    You have to set the border-radius directly on the elements you want to be rounded:

    .menu li:first-child a { border-radius: 10px 0 0 10px }
    .menu li:last-child a  { border-radius: 0 10px 10px 0 }

    Here’s the fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/avkKL/1/
