You probably want
- (NSRange)rangeOfString:(NSString *)aString options:(NSStringCompareOptions)mask range:(NSRange)aRange. The range argument is an NSRange indicating where in the haystack to look for the needle. PassingNSMakeRange(startIndex, [haystack length]-startIndex)should do what you want.
