because the image in the non-working version is floated left. which makes its container not re-size to fit the contents..

The working version has the class
.aligncenterapplied, while the failing version has.alignleftwhich floats the element to the left with thefloat:leftproperty setting.if you remove the
float:leftit will work (or alternatively set theclear:bothfor thehrelement, as @pekka mentioned).
