    Have you tried using the jQuery DatePicker? It’s much more friendly with MVC than the standard ASP controls and related extenders.

    <%= Html.TextBox( "name" ) %>

    <script type="text/javascript">
        $(function() {
           $('[name=name]').datepicker();
        });
    </script>
