    You might be able to find what you need with NSProcessInfo:

    >> NSProcessInfo.processInfo.operatingSystemVersionString
=> "Version 10.6.2 (Build 10C540)"
>> NSProcessInfo.processInfo.processorCount
=> 2
>> NSProcessInfo.processInfo.physicalMemory
=> 4294967296
