    This never could work. Try to put script before everything else

        <script src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"></script>
    <div id="google_translate_element" >

                      <script type="text/javascript">
                             function googleTranslateElementInit() {
                                  new google.translate.TranslateElement({
                                      pageLanguage: 'en'
                                        }, 'google_translate_element');
                                        }
                      </script>

            </div>
