    Just return from the function.

    <?php
    somefunc(1);

    function somefunc($a) {
      for($i=1;$i<11;$i++) {
        if ($i==5&&$a) {
          $a--;
          return somefunc($a);
        }
        echo "$i <br>";
      }
    }
    ?>
