Question

Have installed Homebrew and have downloaded git, but it won’t link. Get this error message:

Consider amending your PATH so that /usr/local/bin
occurs before /usr/bin in your PATH.

  /opt/sm/pkg/active/bin/pkg-config

`./configure` may have problems finding brew-installed packages using
this other pkg-config.

What can I do to fix this?

Possible duplicate of this question … The solution to this was

open your /etc/paths file, put /usr/local/bin on top of /usr/bin

$ sudo vi /etc/paths
/usr/local/bin
/usr/local/sbin
/usr/bin
/bin
/usr/sbin
/sbin
