In case you are asking this because you need to encode URLs, use this

NSString* escapedUrlString =
  [unescapedString stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding];

If you just need space to +, use

[str stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@"+"];
