    android:layout_width="fill_parent"
    android:layout_height="fill_parent"
    android:padding="10dip"

   android:src="@drawable/loading"
    android:contentDescription="@string/image_desc" />

In adapter get view :
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {

    ViewHolder holder;
    if (convertView == null) {
        convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.item, null);

    } else
        holder = (ViewHolder) convertView.getTag();
imageLoader.DisplayImage(URL, holder.icon);

    return convertView;

}

ImageLoader.Java from here

How can I show temporary image inside the imageview until the image is loaded from server.

    in place of android:src=”@drawable/loading” you can give the temporary image name which will display by default. or you can set holder.icon.setImageBitmap(bitmapImage). and run the imageLoader.DisplayImage(URL, holder.icon); on uiThread. so the it will update the ui as soon as image is downloaded.
