And also how can I make the contentView of a cell go transparent?

If you use plain style then:
To remove lines:
tableView.separatorStyle = UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleNone;To make the contentView of a cell go transparent:
set backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]in anything you can set (tableView, cell, cell.contentView).
