    You use the AddonManager API:

    Components.utils.import("resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm");
    AddonManager.getAddonByID("id@my.addon", function(addon)
    {
      alert("Installed version is " + addon.version);
    });
    

    Here id@my.addon needs to be replaced by the ID of your add-on of course.
