    How about using a TRIGGER on the table? Something similar to this code:

    DELIMITER $$

    CREATE TRIGGER ai_increaseByFive AFTER INSERT ON tbl
      FOR EACH ROW BEGIN
        UPDATE tbl SET id = (id - 1) + 5 WHERE title = NEW.title;
      END;
    $$

    DELIMITER ;
