    button.setTextColor(getApplication().getResources().getColor(R.color.red)); //TAKE DEFAULT COLOR
    

    or

    button.setTextColor(0xff0000); //SET CUSTOM COLOR 
    

    or

    button.setTextColor(Color.parseColor("#ff0000")); 
    

    and in xml :
