try {
    PlatformUI.getWorkbench().getBrowserSupport().getExternalBrowser().openURL(new URL("http://stackoverflow.com"));
} catch (PartInitException | MalformedURLException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
}

This will open the external browser.
