I am using asp.net 2.0, vs2005 and IIS 5.1.

Using Windows XP SP3.

Failed to access IIS metabase.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

    What version of ASP.NET are you running?

    try

    Start -> Run 
    Type cmd <HIT RETURN>
    Type c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i <HIT RETURN>
    

    or as suggested

    aspnet_regiis.exe -ga ASPNET
