);

    use a insert trigger for that. Something like this

    DELIMITER |

CREATE TRIGGER default_yearly BEFORE INSERT ON employee
  FOR EACH ROW BEGIN   
    SET NEW.employeeyearly = NEW.employeemonthly * 12;
  END;
