    This should be pretty close

    String dateString = "Wed, 09 Apr 2008 23:55:38 GMT";
SimpleDateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat("EEE, dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss zzz");
Date d = format.parse(dateString);
