If you need to do this for different, longer, or possibly unknown query strings, take your pick from the following methods:

$substr = substr($string, 0, strpos($string, '?'));

$regex = preg_replace('/\?(.*)/', '', $string);

$array = explode('?', $string);
$str = current($array);
