    if((/^\s*field\s+{\s*$/)||(/^\s*field\s+{\s*\/\/.*$/)

    If you are trying to rewrite

    (/^\s*field\s+{\s*$/) || (/^\s*field\s+{\s*\/\/.*$/)
    

    Might I suggest:

    m#^\s*field\s+{\s*($|//)#
    

    The last part ($|//) will look for either of two valid line endings: Just the end of the line, or two slashes. Note that the slashes can be followed by any character, as if you had written //.*$.
