    Use of custom JSONEncoder should help

    class DecimalEncoder(json.JSONEncoder):
        def default(self, o):
            if isinstance(o, decimal.Decimal):
                return float(o)
            super(DecimalEncoder, self).default(o)
    
    # and then:
    json.dumps(chart_list,..., cls=DecimalEncoder)
