I am wanting to make some animations for a website I’m working on and thought that flash would be the right technology for me. So I’m going out and trying to find a cheap copy on ebay for a mac.
I’m trying to figure out which version I need and am wondering if you need Flash CS3 if you want to do ActionScript 3.0? I understand that you use ActionScript to programatically make things happen in flash, but I don’t quite understand if the version of AS is tied to the Adobe Flash product.
Any help will be appreciated.
First, if you’re a coder (like me) and not a designer, I’d suggest starting my foray into Flash with FlashDevelop, a free Actionscript/Flex IDE which works very well to create flash movies with or without the Flex framework (which you didn’t mention).
I do believe that Flash CS3 was the first version of Flash to support Actionscript 3.0, which is a huge leap forward over Actionscript 2.0.
If you decide that you want to work with the code, and wish to purchase something Adobe’s FlexBuilder 3.0 is a great tool which supports Flex and Actionscript.
