I have a button that will add show a form on the page. how can I move the focus to the first field of the form when that button is clicked?

simple example:

HTML:

<form style="display:none;" id="newForm">
   <input type="text" id="firstField">
</form>
<input type="button" id="showForm" value="add new">

jQuery:

 $("#showForm").click(function(){
     $("#newForm").show();
     //move focus??
});
