    I like the simple solution.

    DateTime minDate = DateTime.MaxValue;
    DateTime maxDate = DateTime.MinValue;
    foreach (string dateString in StringDates)
    {
        DateTime date = DateTime.Parse(dateString);
        if (date < minDate)
            minDate = date;
        if (date > maxDate)
            maxDate = date;
    }
