I have a service which should handle documents by downloading and uploading to it. Downloading documents works perfectly, by returning a byte[] array.
Uploading I’ve tried to send byte[] as input, however I get the following error:
“The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request”
Googling around and I find the solution to use the following code in web.config
httpRuntime maxRequestLength=”2000000″
Still same error though…

You have configured your client to support document downloading:
maxReceivedMessageSizeandmaxArrayLength. You must do the same on the service to support uploading.Btw. you should also change
messageEncodingto MTOM on both client and service – it will improve serialization of byte array because at the moment it is passed as part of message body encoded to base64 => the size of the message grows about 33%. If you use MTOM it will be passed as message attachment without encoding to base64.
