    If you are looking for a small utility to grab the key codes, you could do this… which has the advantage of not having to click the ok on the alert.

    html

    <input />
    <div></div>

    script

    $('input').keyup(function(){
        var kc = event.keyCode;
        $('div').html(kc);
    });
