I have been working on getting a mail app to work from a tutorial

  • 0

I have been working on getting a mail app to work from a tutorial at

http://www.jondev.net/articles/Sending_Emails_without_User_Intervention_%28no_Intents%29_in_Android

However I keep getting a run time error every time I try to run it. I am new to android programming and I am not quite sure how to read the logcat errors so I throw myself at the mercy of the internet, please help.

I have the internet permission correctly set up, and activation.jar, mail.jar, and additional.jar are included in the project and have a build path set up to it.

Main Code

 package com.dummies.android.MailTest;

 import android.app.Activity;
 import android.os.Bundle;
 import android.util.Log;
 import android.view.View;
 import android.view.View.OnClickListener;
 import android.widget.Button;
 import android.widget.Toast;

 public class MailTestActivity extends Activity
 {
private Button mButton;

    /** Called when the activity is first created. */
    @Override
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState)
   {
    mButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.send);

    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.main);

    Button mButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.send);
    mButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener()
    {
      public void onClick(View view)
      {
        Mail m = new Mail("********.com", "********");

        String[] toArr = {"*******@gmail.com"};
        m.setTo(toArr);
        m.setFrom("*********.com");
        m.setSubject("This is an email sent using my Mail JavaMail wrapper from an        Android device.");
        m.setBody("Email body.");

        try {
          //m.addAttachment("/sdcard/filelocation");

          if(m.send()) {
            Toast.makeText(MailTestActivity.this, "Email was sent successfully.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
          } else {
            Toast.makeText(MailTestActivity.this, "Email was not sent.",   Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
          }
        } catch(Exception e) {
          //Toast.makeText(MailApp.this, "There was a problem sending the email.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
          Log.e("MailApp", "Could not send email", e);
        }
      }

EDIT: With no edits being made to my code, I am not getting a NoClassDefFoundError instead. Both classes were added straight to the src folder under the package, neither code is externally added. So why am I getting this error now?

    The answer turned out to be more simplistic than I thought, the tutorial I started with was an older one. I just had to change the name of the lib folder to libs and it worked perfectly!
