    Send a signal.

    #include <sys/types.h>
    #include <signal.h>
    
    kill(pid, SIGKILL);
    
    /* or */
    
    kill(pid, SIGTERM);
    

    The second form preferable, among other, if you’ll handle signals by yourself.
