    you should do that like this because onclick and onselect attributes are not supported for option tag.

    <select name="city" onchange="selectionchanged(this)">
        <option value="1" >One</option>
        <option value="2" >Two</option>
        <option value="3" >Three</option>
        <option value="4" >Four</option>
    </select>

    function selectionchanged(e) {
