    You can use css to set custom apperiance to your dropdown:

    .customDropDown { -webkit-appearance: none; -moz-appearance: none; 
    // add background image what you like
    }
    

    And add this class to your dropdown :

    @Html.DropDownList("DropDownID", String.Empty, new {@class="customDropDown "} )
