    Standard Cursor Image:

    setCursor (Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR));

    User defined Image:

      Toolkit toolkit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
  Image image = toolkit.getImage("icons/handwriting.gif");
  Cursor c = toolkit.createCustomCursor(image , newPoint(mainPane.getX(),
     mainPane.getY()), "img");
  mainPane.setCursor (c);
