    You can try this:

    $.ajax({
       type: "POST",
       url: "some.php",
       data: "name=John&location=Boston",
       success: function(msg){
         alert( "Data Saved: " + msg );
       }
     });
    

    And in PHP you can do this

    echo json_encode($return);
