    Yes, it is possible:

    public static bool IsRunningWithSGen ()
    {
        return System.GC.MaxGeneration > 0;
    }
    

    and the alternative for Boehm:

    public static bool IsRunningWithBoehm ()
    {
        return System.GC.MaxGeneration == 0;
    }
