I would like to use mod_rewrite to detect if a user agent is a mobile device and if so, redirect users from http://www.example.com/foo.php?a=12345 to example.com/mobile/foo.php?a=12345. The redirect must preserve the query-strings and requested filename.
I am using the Mobile Boilerplate (https://github.com/h5bp/mobileboilerplate.com) as a starting point. In the .htaccess file they provided, they used the following code to redirect all mobile browsers to the mobile site, example.com/mobile/.

The code works well, but unfortunately, it does not preserve the queries and redirects to the page regardless of the requested file.
I added the following code snippet to the previous code but it came back as an internal error on both mobile and desktop browsers.

I have exhausted all solutions I could find online. I think the problem may lie in having the conditions check for mobile and then the other conditions I added. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll still continue to crack this cookie.
I solved the issue and I’m responding to my own question in case someone else might encounter a similar problem.
Also, thank you to Kamil Srot for pointing me on the right path and suggesting I check the Apache Error.logs.
Here is the original code I used that was giving me errors:
The goal was to redirect mobile users to a subdirectory and preserve the query strings. I received an Internal Server Error when I used this code in my .htaccess. The problem was the [QSA] flag in the rewrite rule. In order for the whole thing to work, I had to remove it. I also received some tips and I was told I could clean up the code as well.
Here is the solution and final result with a line-by-line explanation of what is going on.
