    \d is a psql command, not a SQL statement.

    To get the tables available in the database you should use the JDBC API, such as DatabaseMetaData.getTables().

    Alternatively, you can run

    select  table_schema, table_name
    from information_schema.tables
    

    To get a list of table names.
