Is there an API call in .NET or a native DLL that I can use to create similar behaviour as Windows Live Messenger when a response comes from someone I chat with?

  1. FlashWindowEx is the way to go. See here for MSDN documentation

    Calling the Function:

    FLASHWINFO fInfo = new FLASHWINFO();  fInfo.cbSize = Convert.ToUInt32(Marshal.SizeOf(fInfo)); fInfo.hwnd = hWnd; fInfo.dwFlags = FLASHW_ALL; fInfo.uCount = UInt32.MaxValue; fInfo.dwTimeout = 0;  FlashWindowEx(ref fInfo);
