Is there an easy way to get the root(real) cause of an EJB Exception?

  • 0

Is there an easy way to get the root(real) cause of an EJB Exception? If I look at the stack trace of the exception then I can easily figure out the reason. For example, in the given example below the hierarchy is EJBException> RollbackException> DatabaseException.

Is there a way to find it easily rather than going all the way down ?

Thank you.

That’s just how Java exceptions work. If a caught exception is rethrown wrapped in another exception, then you get long winded traces like this.

You could consider creating a servlet filter with the FilterChain#doFilter() in a try-catch which extracts Exception#getCause() in a loop until the last is reached and then log it to a separate file and then read that log file instead.
