Is there any framework or set of classes that will allow me to play an audio file(mp3) with a small view displaying controls (slider, pause/play, etc)?

Not that I know of. You’ll just have to create them yourself. Except for the volume bar, for that you can use a
MPVolumeView.You could use a
MPMoviePlayerViewControllerbut that occupies the entire screen and you wouldn’t be able to modify it. If that’s ok, then aMPMoviePlayerViewControlleris your best bet.
