  • 0

i’ve created a project in struts2 MVC.
can anyone tell me how to access the servlet without directing through struts2.xml?
i know that we can access through struts2.xml by the action dispatcher but i want to know if there is any other method by which i can access the servlet directly from jsp?

web.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<web-app version="3.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_0.xsd">
    <filter>
        <filter-name>struts2</filter-name>
        <filter-class>org.apache.struts2.dispatcher.ng.filter.StrutsPrepareAndExecuteFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>struts2</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>com.myservlet.MyServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/MyServlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    <session-config>
        <session-timeout>
            30
        </session-timeout>
    </session-config>
    <welcome-file-list>
        <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
</web-app>

struts.xml

    @Override

    }

    @Override

        PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
        String name=request.getParameter("username");
        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"SEEE:"+name);
    }

    @Override
    public String getServletInfo() {
        return "Short description";
    }// </editor-fold>

}

index.jsp

<%@page contentType="text/html" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>

        <title>JSP Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        <form action="MyServlet" method="post">
            USERNAME:<input type="text" name="username"/><br>
            <input type="submit" value="SHOW"/>
        </form>
    </body>
</html>

In the above code why i can’t access the values of the textfield in the getPost() method?
Thanks in Advance…

    I am sure you know about how to call servlet and how to configure them, so i will not go to that detail.

    You can create servlet and can call them as per your use-case all you need to tell Struts2 filter that you do not want some particular URLs to be handled by Struts2

    in your struts.xml add:

    <constant name="struts.action.excludePattern" value="/ServletToExcludeFromStruts*"/>

    For more details refer to webxml
