I’ve written a login function in my code that will check if there are any users in the database upon logging in. If there aren’t any, it should inject a standard user into the database but I keep getting the following exception:

Any ideas of what might be wrong?
You seem to be using EJBs. The main point of Session EJBs is to be able to demarcate transactions declaratively. So when an EJB method is called, it starts a transaction (unless one is already running), and commits it automatically when the method ends (unless a RuntimeException is thrown which causes a rollback). That’s the default behaviour.
This means that you should not start, commit, and rollback transactions manually from withing an EJB. The entity manager should also not be closed manually. This is all done by the EJB container.
If you want to start a new transaction, then call another Session EJB method annotated with
