       public string CommentText { get; set; }

        public ActionResult Index(CommentModel commentModel)
        {

            int i = commentModel.ActivityId;

            dataType: 'json',
            type: "POST",
            data: JSON.stringify({ commentModel: formDataAsJson }),
            contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8',
            success: function (data) {
                $("#commentsection").append(data);
            }

    If you use strongly-typed-helper, mvc convert it to your model. You dont need to create js model.

    strongly-typed view

    @model CommentModel
    @using (Html.BeginForm("Index", "Home", FormMethod.Post, new { id = "form1" }))
    {
        @Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.EmailAddress)
        @Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Name)
        ...
    }

    script

    $(function () {
        $('form').submit(function () {
            if ($(this).valid()) {
                $.ajax({
                    url: this.action,
                    type: this.method,
                    data: $(this).serialize(),
                    beforeSend: function () {

                    },
                    complete: function () {

                    },
                    success: function (result) {

                    },
                    error: function () {

                    }
                });
            }
            return false;
        });
    });

    Controller

    [HttpPost]
    public ActionResult Index(CommentModel commentModel)
    {
        int i = commentModel.ActivityId;
        string k = commentModel.CommentText;

        return View();
    }
