Question

My question is how to close socket on the end of activity if it is opened with syntax:

        serverSocket = new DatagramSocket(PORT);
        serverSocket.setBroadcast(true);

put serverSocket.close() in onPause() method of your activity

@Override 
public void onPause(){
    ...
    serverSocket.close();   
    ...
}
