    Use the in_array() function.

    Manual says:

    Searches haystack for needle using loose comparison unless strict is set.

    Example:

    <?php
    $a = 'abc';

    if (in_array($a, array('are','abc','xyz','lmn'))) {
        echo "Got abc";
    }
    ?>
