    import javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory;
    // ...
    XMLGregorianCalendar xc = DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(
        int year,
        int month,
        int day,
        int hour,
        int minute,
        int second,
        int millisecond,
        int timezone)

    there are other versions of newXMLGregorianCalendar(), eg newXMLGregorianCalendar(GregorianCalendar cal).
