    SELECT *
    FROM `products`
    WHERE (
    `category` = 'a'
    OR `category` = 'b'
    )

    OR

    SELECT *
    FROM `products`
    WHERE
    `category` IN ('a', 'b')

    You can use IN clause to replace many OR conditions. IN simply checks whether a value is within a set of values.
