So I have done Gem install newgem (running under rvm) and also sudo gem install newgem just in case that had been the problem. When I try to run it, i get the following. i’m only just starting out in ruby and can’t really infer the reason it’s not working. Can anyone help?

mikey@mikey-netbook:~/Projects/gems$ newgem somegem

I assume you are trying to create a new gem. In which case I would recommend bundler. There are some excellent tutorials out there which show you how to achieve that. I am posting a link to one of the tutorials Railcast – New Gem with Bundler. As far as your error goes I think since newgem has not been updated in a while it might not be working correctly.
