The solution I saw on here was to use javax.servlet, but I’ve already got it in my pom.xml.

The beam that’s throwing the issue is..

<beans:beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/security"
    xmlns:beans="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans
                    http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd
                    http://www.springframework.org/schema/security
                    http://www.springframework.org/schema/security/spring-security-3.0.xsd">

        <intercept-url pattern="/**" access="permitAll" />
    </http>

        <authentication-provider>
            <user-service>

            </user-service>
        </authentication-provider>
    </authentication-manager>
</beans:beans>

The web.xml is…

    spring-security-web is an optional dependency of spring-security-config, so that you need to declare it in your pom.xml as well.

    Also, you didn’t configure authentication method – none of <form-login>, <http-basic> or auto-config = "true" are present. See 2.2.2 A Minimal Configuration.
