    In Ruby.tmLanguage, Change this line:

    <string>\b(require|gem)\b</string>

    to

    <string>\b(require|gem|require_relative)\b</string>

The Ruby.tmLanguage file can be found from within Sublime Text 2 with Sublime Text > Preferences > Browse Packages.
