The third line below returns -1. What should I do to debug?

void *zeroed_block = calloc(512, 1);

When I print the error caused by write (using perror) The reason is “Bad file descriptor”

Here’s the code where I open the file descriptor:

The opening the file descriptor works relialbly every other time I use it, outside these three lines of code.
