Question

This is driving me bonkers… I just want to add another img node.

DOMDocument::getElementsByTagName doesn’t return an array, it returns a DOMNodeList. You need to use the item method to access its items:

$album = $xmlDoc->getElementsByTagname('album')->item(0);
